Safety Dual front airbags, stability control with a trailer-sway algorithm, anti-lock brakes, traction control, and tire-pressure monitoring are standard across the Chevrolet Equinox lineup. However, road noise, suspension noise, and less-than-impressive interior materials make the Equinox feel less refined than its competitors. The Onstar Package, built in phone and satelite radio is really nice! However, the steering and handling are not quite up to par -- rendering the Equinox a ranking in the bottom half of its class. Thick windshield pillars don't help visibility, either. It's an attractive, utilitarian vehicle marketed at a reasonable price, powered by a reasonably old-fashioned, Chinese-built.
With the seat all the way back, you can play racketball in the back seat. The Equinox has good road feel in highway driving, yet steering effort is lighter at low speeds for easier maneuvering in tight parking lots. Until this year, the Equinox came exclusively with a thrashy-sounding 185-hp, 3. The steering feels vague, too.
